Simulate says what a particle is
The particle view and Details explain that each dot is a parcel of material that carries its mass, not a grain, and why dots crowd where the material is squashed.
Limits
Sand at fine sizes can stop early on Fast: the Sand pile on a part demo at a 2 mm Custom size stops after about a quarter of a second with "too many particles crowded into one grid cell", and Details offers Switch to Accurate. A fix is coming.

Improved
- Simulate's Particles view says what a dot is: a parcel of the material that carries its share of the mass, not a grain or an atom. Where sand or water has been squashed its dots crowd and overlap; where it has been stretched they part; the material fills the space between them. On a phone the colour legend says it in one line.
- Details, under Particles, gives each parcel's size at the scene's particle size.
Other improvements
- Simulate's Particles view and Details now say what a dot is: a parcel of the material that carries its share of the mass, not a grain or an atom. Where sand or water has been squashed its dots crowd and overlap, where it has been stretched they part; the material fills the space between them.
